Rallye Deutschland marked the first opportunity that Sebastien Ogier had to wrap up the 2013 World Rally Championship title, but it turned out to be a tough weekend all round for his Volkswagen team as its first outing on home soil failed to go to plan.

Ogier could only finish down in 17th after being forced to restart under Rally 2 following an off caused by suspension damage on SS4, while team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala then went off after sustaining suspension damage of his own on SS12.

While the Finn also returned under Rally 2, he could only finish seventh, while the weekend was capped by further disappointment for Andreas Mikkelsen - who failed to even take the start due to an injury sustained by Mikko Markkula.
