Loeb fails to make final on RallycrossRX outing

Sebastien Loeb: It's been a great atmosphere here in Loheac, there have been many spectators and it's always nice to drive at home in France, in front of my fans.
Sebastien Loeb failed to make it through to the final in front of his home fans in his guest outing in the FIA European Rallycross Championship last weekend.

The nine-time WRC champion, who was at the wheel of a Citroen DS3 Supercar for the event at the Loheac circuit in Brittany, finished 16th in his first heat, before then taking fifth in heat 2, 10th in heat 3 and 11th in heat 4.

That was enough to put him through to semi-final 1, where he finished fourth behind Timur Timerzyanov, missing out on a place in the final by just four tenths of a second.

“It's been a great atmosphere here in Loheac, there have been many spectators and it's always nice to drive at home in France, in front of my fans,” said Loeb after his second appearance in rallycross competition following an outing in the X-Games last year.

Andreas Bakkerud meanwhile won the event, claiming his second RallycrossRX win in succession - 2.5 seconds up on 2003 WRC champion Petter Solberg: “What a crazy race. I was pushing to the limit. Petter was really fast off the line but then I think he overheated his tyres too early. This is amazing, the whole event has been huge,” Bakkerud added.
