ERC: Kubica to do extra event?

Robert Kubica to add Rallye Sanremo or Rallye International du Valais to programme?
Robert Kubica could expand his FIA European Rally Championship schedule to five events, Citroen Racing's Marek Nawarecki's has said.

Kubica was originally due to compete in the ERC on four occasions this season and finished his planned schedule of events on LOTOS 70 Rally Poland last weekend.

Unfortunately he retired at the end of leg one due to damage inflicted to the engine of his LOTOS-backed Citroen DS3 RRC when it ingested mud as the F1 race winner battled to the end of the stage on three wheels.

However, there is now a possibility that Kubica could make one final appearance in the ERC in 2013 with either Rallye Sanremo in October or November's Rallye International du Valais under consideration.

“This was the final ERC event that was planned but there is still a possibility of one more event although nothing is confirmed or decided,” said Nawarecki.

Kubica, co-driven by fellow Pole Maciej Baran, was in second overall when he hit trouble. But he once again underlined his blistering pace by setting two fastest stage times to increase his tally of stage wins to 18 from four starts.

Kubica is also competing in the WRC this season too, and thus far has taken three WRC2 wins, the most recent on Rallye Deutschland.
