Volkswagen's Sebastien Ogier has admitted it would be a dream come true for him to get to drive an F1 car - and that he'd love to do a swap with three-time F1 world champion, Sebastian Vettel.
Ogier is the man of the moment in the WRC and heads to Rallye de France-Alsace next week for the eleventh round in the series, just one-point away from winning the 2013 World Rally Drivers' title.
The Frenchman made a guest appearance in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Monaco earlier this year and added that the experience in one of the F1 support events definitely whetted his appetite.
“It was a great experience to race Monaco for me. It was one of my dreams - this track is just amazing. I had a lot of fun there and, yeah, another step, one day, is to have the chance to try F1. That is for sure another dream I hope I will get,” he told Crash.net
at Rallyday 2013, the UK's Premier Rally Car Show.
“I think it is the dream of everyone [to drive an F1 car],” he added.
“It is the highest performing car you can find. Definitely I hope I will get the chance to try it and discover this sensation.”
Ogier swapped cars with Audi factory driver and two-time DTM champion, Mattias Ekstrom
prior to Rallye Deutschland in August, and asked how likely a swap was with Vettel, he added: “At the moment there is no real plan. [But] maybe thanks to my sponsor, Red Bull, it could happen one day,” he speculated.
“Seb [Loeb] did it a few years ago and did quite well from what I have seen. Also the good thing is the other Seb, [Sebastian] Vettel, is also interested in trying my car [the Polo R WRC]. I think we should organise that one day...” he concluded.
