Volkswagen driver Sebastien Ogier has successfully clinched the 2013 WRC Drivers' title on the first stage of Rallye de France-Alsace.
Ogier fell just
short of claiming the title following his win in Australia last month, however, for Thierry Neuville to remain in mathematical contention, the Belgian had to win the Power Stage and take the maximum three bonus points, and when he finished second it was all over...
“We are so happy,” said Ogier, who was third quickest in the 4.55 km test in Strasbourg, 0.1 seconds behind Neuville and 0.8 seconds behind Dani Sordo, who was fastest.
Volkswagen Motorsport director Jost Capito meanwhile was delighted to see his driver take the top prize.
“I can't believe it,” Capito added.
