Nasser Al-Attiyah is to miss the final round of the World Rally Championship following the announcement that he has withdrawn his entry into Wales Rally GB.

The Qatar World Rally Team driver had been due to contest the event at the wheel of his regular M-Sport-run Ford Fiesta WRC but has failed to recover from an incident in the previous round of the season in Spain.

That incident saw Al-Attiyah roll out in dramatic fashion on the eighth stage of the event, with the 42-year-old Dakar winner being left with pain in his hand as a result.
