RX: Volkswagen debuts new Rallycross Beetle in Chicago

Tanner Foust and Scott Speed to compete with VW in the Global RallyCross
Volkswagen presented the all-wheel drive Rallycross-Beetle at the Chicago Auto Show today.

VW of America has teamed up with Andretti Autosport to form the 'Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross' team, and will run two cars in Global RallyCross for Tanner Foust and ex-F1 man Scott Speed. The team will initially use modified Polo rally cars, built on the chassis that won the 2013 World Rally Championship for drivers and manufacturers, before switching to the GRC Beetle in the summer.

“This all-wheel-drive rallycross car is the ultimate expression of the third-generation Beetle and will feature more than 560 horsepower from its turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine,” VW said in a brief statement to the media.
