2003 World Rally champion Petter Solberg has successfully defended his Historic Rally Sweden crown.

Solberg, who was once again co-driven by his wife Pernilla on the event, eventually took the spoils and beat nearest rival Arne Radstrom by just over 40 seconds. In total he won four of the nine stages in his Mk2 Ford Escort, which was built and overhauled by his former co-driver Phil Mills.

"Another fantastic win!" Solberg wrote on his official Facebook page. "We are in ecstasy for the Historic Official Rally Sweden win today! My wife Pernilla did a great job as co-driver in our 1975 Ford Escort Mk2."
