RX: Foust next to commit to World Rallycross

Tanner Foust signs up for four events on the World Rallycross Championship schedule
Tanner Foust has become the latest big name to confirm plans to compete in the new FIA World Rallycross Championship during the 2014 season with the announcement that he will compete in four rounds.

Foust, a ten time medalist in the X-Games and presenter of the American version of Top Gear, will be at the wheel of a Marklund Motorsport-run Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar for the events at Lydden Hill, Kouvola, Trois-Rivieres and Istanbul and follows in the footsteps of countryman Ken Block, who announced his own three-event programme last week.

"I'm looking forward to being able to run some international races in the new FIA World Rallycross Championship this year,” Foust said. “It's been amazing to be a part of rallycross as it has grown over the past few years and I can't wait to get back out there and race in 2014."

Martin Anayi, Managing Director of World RX for IMG Motorsport ¬said the addition of Foust to the grid was a huge boost to the new series.

“When it comes to rallycross, Tanner is one of the most experienced drivers out there,” he said. “He won two rounds of our Championship [Lydden and Kouvala] when it was part of the European series last year and there's no doubt Tanner will be eager to add some World RX victories to his ever-growing resume of event victories.

“His enthusiasm and passion for the sport shines through and his experience of the sport will be invaluable in 2014 as our series makes its mark on the world stage for the first time.”

Foust's previous Rallycross experience includes two titles in the Global Rallycross Championship and three American Rallycross titles.
