Mads Ostberg has crashed out of Rally Poland after hitting a rock and rolling his Citroen DS3 WRC car in SS14.

It is understood the incident occurred a few kilometres from the end of the 35.17 km Goldap 1 test. Citroen has since confirmed that Ostberg and co-driver Jonas Andersson both escaped unharmed. Ostberg had been running in third place overall, 14.2 seconds off Andreas Mikkelsen in second and 18.2 seconds up on Jari-Matti Latvala in fourth.

Ostberg was one of a number of runners to hit problems in Goldap 1, with M-Sport man Elfyn Evans damaging his cars suspension at the same place.

Meanwhile, Henning Solberg, Robert Kubica and Kris Meeke all had punctures, the latter losing over 2 minutes, while Latvala damaged the front suspension on his Volkswagen Polo R WRC.

"We caught Kris towards the end of the stage - then at the end of the stage on a fast corner we hit a stone really hard and the damper has come through the bodywork - now we need to go and sort this out," Latvala stated.

After all that, Andreas Mikkelsen now leads overall, albeit only provisionally. He was quickest in the test, 18.5 seconds up on Sebastien Ogier. Ogier, however, lost time as a result of Ostberg's off as the Norwegian's car was blocking the road. It is expected he will be given a notional time by the stewards. Ogier is currently 4.3 seconds back in P2. Latvala completes the top-three with Juho Hanninen, Mikko Hirvonen, Thierry Neuville, Kubica and Hayden Paddon in positions 4 through to 8.

The loop now concludes with a run through SS15 - Baranowo 1. It is scheduled to start at 14.05 hours local time [13.05 hours UK time].
