Ott Tanak says he'll be taking calculated risks for Rally Argentina after crashing into a reservoir last time out in Mexico in the World Rally Championship.

The M-Sport Ford driver is raring to restart his WRC campaign after six weeks off between Mexico and Argentina. The Estonian's season has been a case of some highs followed by lows and he is looking for a return to form at the South American event.

After crashing in the WRC season opener in Rallye Monte Carlo, Tanak narrowly missed out on the podium at Rally Sweden, placing fourth in the final classification.

Full of confidence going into Rally Mexico, the M-Sport driver overcooked it and crashed into a deep reservoir in the most memorable moment of the season to date. Tanak's Ford Fiesta RS WRC machine sunk almost instantly after he co-driver Raigo Molder climbed out and swam to safety.

Tanak says he's had plenty of time to reflect on the disappointment in Mexico and is ready to push the limits again.

"This break has been too long for me and it's made me really hungry to drive again," Tanak said. "We did some testing with the new car after Mexico, but I can't wait to be back competing again.

"The first thing we need to think about is getting a good feeling. Of course if the feeling is there, the temptation to push the limits is also there, but you really need to be clever on an event like Argentina.

"This isn't a rally like Sweden or Finland where you can slide from one side of the road to the other. There is always something to hit and big stones are often dragged onto the road from the cars ahead. It's an event where you need to keep your eyes open; you need to keep that margin and know which risks are the ones worth taking."

Tanak's previous appearances in Rally Argentina has seen him struggle to get to grips with the tricky routes, finishing 10th in 2012 with M-Sport and 17th in 2014 while competing for Drive Dmack.

"It's a big challenge, but one that I am really looking forward to. I hope we can have a good event and secure some more solid points before heading back to Europe."

Rally Argentina acts as the fourth round of the 2015 World Rally Championship, with Tanak currently in ninth place in the drivers' standings.
