Skoda is gearing up for the debut of the Fabia R5 at Rally Sumava Klatovy in the Czech Republic with reigning Asia-Pacific champion Jan Kopecky at the wheel.

The Czech manufacturer has selected a home debut for its all-new 1.6-litre turbo four-wheel drive car ahead of its maiden race in the WRC 2 category later this year. The Fabia R5's first competitive outing will be an all-Czech Republic affair with Kopecky racing with Czech co-driver Pavel Cresler.

"We are delighted to now be able to test our new ?koda Fabia R5 at an actual rally, following the successful homologation by the FIA," Skoda Motorsport director Michal Hrabanek said. "It is obviously particularly symbolic that our first outing will be in the brand's back yard in the Czech Republic."
