WRC Rally Argentina: Paddon crashes out, SS9 cancelled

Hyundai's Hayden Paddon goes off the road in SS9 of Rally Argentina, test stopped and then cancelled as a result
Hyundai Motorsport N driver Hayden Paddon has crashed out of Rally Argentina in Saturday afternoon's opening stage.

Paddon, who re-started today under Rally 2, went off the road 600 metres from the start of SS9, the repeat-run through the 23.10km Capilla del Monte-San Marcos 2 test.

Paddon and co-driver John Kennard both escaped unharmed, but a number of spectators were injured.

The stage was stopped as a result and then cancelled. Only Lorenzo Bertelli, Sebastien Ogier, Andreas Mikkelsen and Ott Tanak completed it at speed, the rest were given notional times. Thierry Neuville, who would have been the sixth car in, was held at the start line.

Crews will now go to SS10, which is due to start at 16.37 hours local time [20.37 hours UK time]. SS10 is the final one of the day.
