Kris Meeke is optimistic about his chances in the second half of the season and targets a return to the rostrum in Finland.

The Citroen Total Abu Dhabi driver has undergone a number of tests with the updated Citroen DS3 WRC machine ahead of the recce for Rally Finland and says good set-up for the changeable surfaces will be key if he is to repeat his third place finish at the event in 2014.

"One of the challenges will be adapting the car to the conditions if the roads become rutted on the second runs," Meeke said. "In 2014, I kept up with the front two until the start of the final day. It would be perfect to maintain the same kind of pace, although I know there are quite a few of us who want to fight at the front."

The Northern Irishman has endured a rather sporadic first half of 2015; taking an emotional maiden WRC victory in Argentina in between pointless finishes in Mexico and Italy.

Meeke says he is looking forward to the remaining six WRC events where he's collected more experience over previous seasons and is confident of a strong result this weekend.

"The stages are fairly similar to the ones we saw last year," he added. "There'll be plenty of excitement and everyone is delighted that the long version of Ouninpohja is back this year. It's essential to be effective. Adopting the right pace makes the job of reading the lines easier. We'll also be able to work on the set-up, which is very specific to the high speeds and the big jumps."
