WRC Driver of the Year 2015: 5th
5th - Jari-Matti Latvala
Average poll score out of ten:
Polo R WRC
13 out of 13 (all WRC)
Power Stage wins:
Faster than team-mate and triple World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier on occasion, Jari-Matti Latvala's 2015 WRC season was once again one to both enjoy and endure.
Arguably the closest rival Ogier has in terms of raw pace, Latvala notched up convincing wins in Portugal, Finland and France, but the flaws that have hampered previous campaigns meant he was never a serious title challenger, even though he did finish runner-up again in the standings, for the second year in succession - and the third year in total.
Latvala started the season well with second place on Rallye Monte Carlo, but crashes in Sweden and Mexico, and mechanical problems in Argentina, left him a lowly ninth in the standings after the first four events, 65 points behind Ogier.
The Finn did fight back, and as mentioned won next time out in Portugal, but by the time he had hauled himself back to P2 in the Championship after winning in Finland, Ogier had almost double his tally.
Granted Latvala enjoyed a run of five podiums towards the end of the season, perhaps raising the prospect of there being a future title challenge within him yet, but an early error on Wales Rally GB, the season finale, was hardly the best of way to go into the winter break.
In your vote you gave him an average mark of 6.6 out of ten, leaving him fifth overall. Do you think that score is about right? Share your opinions simply by clicking on the 'Post your comments' link below.

About the vote:
Rather than repeat the Drivers' World Championship standings, the World Rally Driver of the Year poll asks readers to take into account factors such as machinery, performance relative to a team-mate, driving style, experience, injuries, progress and personality just as much as race results.
Over 3,000 votes were cast for the 2015 Crash.net WRC Driver of the Year poll, where viewers awarded each of this year's full-time participants a mark out of ten for an average rating.
