After featuring among the frontrunners in the opening two rounds of the World Rally Championship, the Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team has confirmed it will be returning to compete on both the Rally de Portugal and Rally Poland.
After taking part in the Rallye Monte Carlo and then Rally Sweden, the Citroen team is taking a break from the WRC during its 'American leg' in Mexico and Argentina, but will return for the next part of its Euro-centric campaign, with three entries in Portugal next month and two in Poland over 1-3 July.
The three cars entered for Rally de Portugal will be driven by for Kris Meeke/Paul Nagle, Stéphane Lefebvre/Gabin Moreau and Khalid Al-Qassimi/Chris Patterson, with the first two crews hoping to emulate their last visit to the event, with Meeke finishing fourth overall and Lefebvre claiming a top-five spot in the WRC2 category.
Six weeks after Portugal, the team's WRC programme will continue on the gravel stages of Rally Poland, with two cars entered for Lefebvre/Moreau and recent Circuit of Ireland ERC winners Craig Breen/Scott Martin.
Winner of the FIA Junior WRC round in 2014, Lefebvre also competed in Poland last year, while Breen brings experience of the Polish round having competed on the event in 2013 when it was a part of the European Rally Championship.
Lefebvre currently owns Abu Dhabi Total WRT's best result of 2016, following his fifth place in Monte Carlo, while Breen also has a top ten finish to his credit from Sweden. Meeke, meanwhile, will be looking to put a disappointing start to the season behind him after a DNF and Rally2 23rd on his record from the opening rounds.
