Volkswagen's Jari-Matti Latvala has retired from day two of Rally Argentina after going off the road in SS14.
Latvala, who had been quickest in SS13, extending his lead to 14.5secs, went off 21 kilometres into the long 38.68km Los Gigantes-Cantera El Condor 1 test. Latvala and co-driver Miikka Anttila both escaped unharmed, early reports suggest.
“I saw Jari-Matti's car. It looks like a huge crash,” Hyundai's Thierry Neuville told the official WRC site post-SS14.
With Latvala out, Hayden Paddon now leads the event, 34.3secs up on Sebastien Ogier. Andreas Mikkelsen holds third, 15.7secs further back, with Dani Sordo fourth and Mads Ostberg fifth.
