Andreas Mikkelsen says he is "proud" to have "mastered" Rally Argentina and to have come away with a third place finish.

Mikkelsen had a miserable time in Argentina last year, and after failing to score in Mexico last time out was determined to bounce back, putting in a measured drive to secure the final podium position, 11.9secs up on Hyundai's Dani Sordo in fourth.

"We had a plan from the outset, and stuck to it - and it paid off," said the Norwegian. "As such, I am more than happy with third place - after all, this is my first podium finish here in Argentina.

"We expected the rally to be extremely tough, and that proved to be the case. The route was very rough. In places it was even more extreme than last year. We are proud to have mastered the rally and come away with third place."

"[Also] after leaving Mexico empty-handed, it was important to score points," he added.

Asked now if he will push to win on the next event in Portugal, an event he led early on in 2015, he replied: "We had a great rally at Portugal last year. I'm sure we can get the same feeling again this year.

"As far as I have looked at the stages they are quite similar. The experience should count. I'm really looking forward to that event."

"There will be a big push in Portugal," he pledged.
