Rally Poland: ‘All this and then you get nothing’ - Tanak after late win miss

Ott Tanak: There's nothing I can say. All this and then you get nothing, it's too hard...
DMACK World Rally Team's Ott Tanak was devastated after a late puncture denied him his maiden WRC victory on Rally Poland.

Tanak looked to be in control, and was 18.6seconds up on Andreas Mikkelsen ahead of the final two stages. However, it wasn't to be, with a puncture in the next rain-soaked test costing him just over 40 seconds and leaving him an inconsolable second at the finish.

“There's nothing I can say. All this and then you get nothing, it's too hard,” Tanak said immediately after the Power Stage.

Speaking later, however, Tanak was somewhat chipper, and took some comfort from a superb performance, that saw him lead for most of the event and win nine stages in his Fiesta RS WRC.

“Obviously it was a great weekend and I enjoyed it a lot. It was probably the greatest feeling I have had,” he continued.

“I felt good in the car and we had the car working perfectly, and the tyres. If you feel all is good and you are confident in the car there are no limits. The base was there.

“I must remember we still got second place.”

Meanwhile, Tanak's co-driver Riago Molder also insisted that second was still very good.

“To be honest after the finish line I was still disappointed but, at the same time, I was happy because we had achieved second place and that is a great result for the DMACK boys. So it was a very good result and I am very happy,” he underlined.
