Sebastien Ogier has shaded home favourite Dani Sordo by a tenth of a second to head proceedings in the Shakedown for the Rally Catalunya – Rally de Espana.

The Volkswagen Motorsport driver, who can wrap up the WRC title this weekend by finishing in the top two in Spain, narrowly edged Sordo by one-tenth despite cutting a chicane on the shakedown course as the WRC rivals prepare for action which begins this evening.

The top two eased clear of the chasing pack with Volkswagen Motorsport II's Andreas Mikkelsen securing third place over one second behind while Kris Meeke continued to impress in the aging Abu Dhabi Total WRT Citroen in fourth.

Ott Tanak led the Ford challengers for DMACK WRT in fifth ahead of the final Volkswagen driver Jari-Matti Latvala with Hyundai Motorsport pair Hayden Paddon and Thierry Neuville completing the top eight in front of M-Sport's Mads Ostberg and FWRT srl Ford's Lorenzo Bertelli.

All WRC crews are heading to Barcelona for the ceremonial start through the city's streets which begins on Thursday evening.
