Sebastien Ogier has claimed victory on the short opening stage at Wales Rally GB ahead of a potential World Rally Championship title-decider.

The M-Sport Ford driver leads team-mate Ott Tanak by 37 points and can clinch his fifth consecutive WRC title in Wales this weekend having started on the front with victory on SS1 Visit Conwy Tir Prince by 0.4s from Toyota’s Jari-Matti Latvala.

Outside title contender Thierry Neuville grabbed third on the times for Hyundai ahead of Tanak and local star Elfyn Evans in the DMACK M-Sport Ford.
