Achievements:

2011 World Rally Championship with his own team, using the new Citroen DS3 WRC (due to do all 13 events).

2010 World Rally Championship with his own team, using a Citroen C4 WRC. 3rd in drivers' standings, 169 points. Results: 9th in Sweden, 2nd in Mexico, 3rd in Jordan, 2nd in Turkey, retired in New Zealand (crashed), 5th in Portugal, 3rd in Bulgaria, 4th in Finland, 5th in Germany, 2nd in Japan, 3rd in France, 2nd in Spain, 2nd in Britain.

Split with Phil Mills after Portugal.

2009 World Rally Championship with his own team - the Petter Solberg World Rally Team (using a Citroen Xsara WRC and for the final two events, a Citroen C4 WRC). 5th in drivers' standings, 35 points. Results: 6th in Norway, 3rd in Cyprus, 4th in Portugal, retired in Argentina (fuel pressure), 3rd in Sardinia, retired in Greece (suspension), 4th in Poland, retired in Finland (engine), 4th in Spain, 4th in Wales.

2008 World Rally Championship - Subaru. 6th in drivers' standings, 46 points. Results: 5th on the Monte, 4th in Sweden, 12th in Mexico (under SupeRally - driveshaft problem on day 2), retired in Argentina (electrical failure), retired in Jordan, 10th in Sardinia, 2nd in Greece, 6th in Turkey, 6th in Finland, 5th in Germany, 4th in NZ, 5th in Spain, 5th in France, 8th in Japan, 4th in Wales.

2007 World Rally Championship - Subaru. 5th in drivers'. Scored 47 points. Results: 6th on Monte, withdrawn in Sweden (after off on day 2 - lost over 14 minutes), 4th in Norway, retired in Mexico, 2nd in Portugal, retired in Argentina, 5th in Sardinia, 3rd in Greece, withdrew in Finland (technical problems), 6th in Germany, 7th in NZ, 6th in Spain, 5th in France, 16th in Japan (under SupeRally - had mechanical problem on day 1), 5th in Ireland, 4th in GB.

2006 World Rally Championship - Subaru. 6th in drivers' championship. Scored 40 points. Results: retired on Monte (engine), excluded in Sweden, 2nd in Mexico, 7th in Spain, 11th in France, 2nd in Argentina, 9th in Sardinia, 7th in Greece, retired in Germany (engine), retired in Finland (crashed), 7th in Japan, 8th in Cyprus, 13th in Turkey, 2nd in Australia, 6th in NZ, 3rd in GB.

2005 World Rally Championship - Subaru. Second in drivers' championship, despite having scored the same number of points as Marcus Gronholm (took the runners-up spot lost owing to fact he won 3 events, while Gronholm took only 2 wins). Scored 71 points in total. Results: Retired on Monte, won in Sweden, won in Mexico, 3rd in NZ, 2nd in Italy, retired in Cyprus (mechanical), 2nd in Turkey, 9th in Greece, 3rd in Argentina, 4th in Finland, 7th in Germany, won in GB, retired in Japan, 3rd in France, 13th in Spain, retired in Australia.

2004 World Rally Championship - Subaru. Second in drivers' championship. Scored 82 points. Results: Seventh on the Monte Carlo Rally, third in Sweden, fourth in Mexico, won in NZ, fourth in Cyprus, won in Greece, third in Turkey, retired in Argentina, retired in Finland, retired in Germany, won in Japan, won in GB, won in Italy, fifth in France, fifth in Spain, retired in Australia.

2003 World Rally Champion with Subaru. Scored 72 points - won four events. Results: Monte Carlo retired, Turkey retired, sixth in Sweden, third in NZ, fifth in Argentina, third in Greece, won in Cyprus, eighth in Germany, second in Finland, won in Australia, retired in Italy, won in France, fifth in Spain and won in GB.

2002 World Rally Championship - second overall (Subaru Impreza WRC). Takes WRC debut win on the Rally GB. Scores 37 points overall.

2001 World Rally Championship - tenth overall (Subaru Impreza WRC). Scores 11 points.

2000 World Rally Championship - tenth overall (part season with Ford).
Signs to join the Subaru World Rally Team for 2001.

1999 World Rally Champonship - part season with Ford. Best result - fifth on the Safari Rally.

1998 Norwegian Rally Championship - first overall (Group A). Four wins.
European Rally Championship - one win.
Swedish Rally Championship - one win.
World Rally Championship - debut (Sweden) - finished 14th.

1997 Norwegian Rally Championship - fifth overall (Toyota). One win.
