I have always been a fan of McRae, he was always like the Gilles Villeneuve of WRC (this news article has disturbing similarities to his exploits in other machinery).
The accident was tragic, though the title makes it sound like he didn't know what he was doing... however he still didn't have a licence and I cannot imagine how bad his family will now feel and have to endure this guilt for the rest of their lives.
McRae was always a dare-devil and I will always respect him for that, but my god has he left more trouble for those close to him :(
R.I.P..... If and doubt, flat out.
