Result - Telstra Rally Australia.

Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm wins Rally Australia convincingly beating team-mate Harri Rovanpera by 57.3 secs. Petter Solberg is third but his Subaru team-mate Tommi Makinen is later disqualified from fourth place as his car was underweight#; Carlos Sainz thus moves up to fourth, with Ford team-mate, Markko Martin completing the top five.

# Subaru initially launched a protest at the exclusion. The Stewards rejected it though, and Subaru have decided not to appeal, in "the interests of the sport", according to Team Principal, David Lapworth.
