DBL

What a strange thing to say about Byrne considering all the intelligent people know that Qatar is not a Ducati circuit (only Bayliss ever winning once there). He was the 2nd finishing Ducati, only Haga on the works bike ahead of him.
Great race from Spies Haga and Biaggi in both. Haslam perhaps making up the most ground in both races from at least 20 after lap 1 although Smrz starting from the pitlane in race 2 almost took that plaudit. Fabrizio is the disappointment this weekend along with Checa.

Just ignore it DBL - its par for the course on here - the bloke has a bad race after doing really well in race 1 and suddenly he's so cr*p he doesn't deserve even deserve be in the championship according to the 'experts'. Oz was always going to be tough having missed 2/3 days of testing and he was trying to play catchup all weekend and it bit him on the ar*e basically. Qatar isn't a great circuit for Ducati - Haga on a factory bike and having been there for the last 4 years or so on the trot had to work his socks off for those two second places. Sterilgarda tried to 'tweak' their way up the finishing order rather than sticking with what worked in race 1 and Shakey suffered for it thats all.

aside from Spies, who, were it not for Biaggi clumsily running him off track in the season opening race might well be looking at a 4peat, its early days to be making judgements about any riders aspirations. we here in the USA no longer get to see any BSB events,so i know little about the British riders there is so much bitter banter about.Byrne was well in the points in both races today, quite a showing, really.any knowledgeable fan knows that some teams and riders adapt to new series faster than others, and if Shakey continues to improve his results at this rate, hell soon be a regular podium, if not race win contender.Not shabby in the least, and worthy of better than simplistic sneers

Actually last years results say Qatar/Losail *is* a track for the 1098 & its clones.

But I still reckon ****alo (above) is a know-nothing troll.

Byrne's not been there for a long time and brought in a more or less sound, workman-like result overall.
He'll do better on the Europen tracks I'm sure.
That said, its looking like wild optimism to expect him to challenge Spies & Haga for the title this season.

@Byrne67
"the bloke has a bad race after doing really well in race 1"

Hmmm, must have missed that one, let me check...

...6th place, 12 secs off the leader. This is doing really for someone that was hyped to challenge for the title??

And a 10th in Race 2.

Four races in and he has done nothing. But I'm willing to wait as long as you want to see if he ever proves his a world class rider. It's not gonna happen.

Superb from spies he is the real deal.

gerat from Haga, good consistency. what he needs to do. and is riding very smartly, something he lacked in past. so excellent result.

Awesome from max, that aprillia still isnt with the yam or duke yet-tho not far away. u could see that the ducati was eating it alive through the long left corner. so two 3rds is brilliant on a new bike.
