WOW! Good thing Max ran him off the track at PI. This could be a total sweep. Ok Europe didn't do it so far. Could this be a total domination? I know it is early in the season still but I have never seen someone go to a totally new bike, tires and race tracks and pop a can of whoop booty like this before. This definitely isn't looking good for the guys that have raced these tracks for years and years. Ben was a little boy when some of these guys started racing.

I reckon this new qualifying system is hurting the racing.

There are several riders who showed in practice they can run well on race rubber who are getting pushed well to the back by this system.

Boy I hope the regulars don't take this beating lying down. At least the practice times indicate close laps amongst the front runners so hopefully the race will be more exciting. Now I do really wish Mladin was here.

It's not the system, it's the stupid mistakes those riders make and not working the system. Everyone has to abide by this and so they should just find a way to top it.

That's partly true Valle.

But it still doesn't alter the fact that if its going to detract from the racing it is shooting the series in the foot.

I don't much like Biaggi. But the racing would be closer and therefore better if he was nearer the front row. SAme goes for Sykes, 'cept I like him more and so far he's slower than Biaggi.

listen CHILDREN...
didn't I say after 2nd practice that Spies will be at least half a sec ahead of everyone else when it comes superpole???
and as i predicted before the season have started, Byrn is just a mid-pack guy. i can't see him fighting in the top unless when the track is wet.

Go Sykes, showing what can be done on the best factory bike in years when your best previous result is 4th in a colloquial championship....pishpoor

I questioned the change of format when it was first announced but I now find the new Superpole format just fine. Especially after getting to see the session in full after someone was kind enough to share video of it. The riders that are fast in the FP and Q sessions, who subsequently fail in the SP session, will surely hurt their chances for a win or good points but the fans benefit from watching them attempt to work back up through the field. Riders should only get caught out by the new SP system once. Twice, well, I'd say they deserve the lower grid spot for not being smarter about things.

Go Spies.
