Sterilgarda Ducati - Shane Byrne :-

'...dropped him to last, although it did prompt an excellent fight back to tenth.'

Glad to see someone in the know and worth listening to, rather than the usual one-dimensional Byrne criticisers on here, can see that he has the pace, even on a lesser machine. Every rider out there (Spies and Haga included) makes mistakes, and most of them more costly than just dropping back a few places too. Spies, although very good, has totalled that R1 more times already this season than Byrne has his Duke.

The fundamental point is that just...

bacause he doesn't get on the podium every weekend in WSBK doesn't mean he hasn't got the pace to do so. The mistakes, as far as I'm concerned, is due to overriding the thing to make up for the lack of pace due to the team being skint. Notice how wide his lines were through the corners compared to those he was racing with. Wasn't much 'fire it into the corner, stand it on its nose, then fire it out on the power' like Whitham regularly talks about on Eurosport was there ? More like a 250 smooth lines style to maintain the corner speed. Hats off to him for being able to adapt his style if you ask me. Plenty can't.

Oh and just for good measure...

Byrne's own website - Miller Motor Park report :-

Quote :-

'We never changed a thing for the 2nd race as the bike was working mega, in fact at the end of the first race the only person on the track faster than me was Ben Spies.'

I hardly think he's likely to blatantly lie about stats that can readily be checked by those in the know somehow do you ?

With better luck he'd have been top 5 in both races.

But as Dale and Fanboy keep telling us (cos they must know far more than the individual actually riding the damn bike) he's definitely a plank, a pudding, a clown and a mid-packer only worthy of demotion to AMA or BSB.

Yeah right. Like f**k...

Just been watching a re-run of Miller SBK on Motors TV. Commentary is better than Rymer and that other tool managed on Eurosport thats for sure, and surprise, surprise... by the last few laps of Race 1 Shakey was 2/10s of a second off of Spies pace. Now that ain't bad going round a track that Spies (who is fast everywhere so it seems, so especially fast in his own backyard) knows like the back of his hand, yet Byrne has never seen in his life. Been saying it all season but there's no way he goes from fastest in winter testing to mid pack and lower during the races. He said when interviewed by Jonathan Green that he'd got a lot off his chest at Kyalami. Well it appears to be showing...

Sorry Nori your love for shakey has blinded you to the facts and points mean prizes at best byrne is midfield and way under performing on a proven bike and a proven team. Smell the coffee bud 2/10ths may as well be a light year. I'd doubt the object of your desire could muster any intrest in AMA but maybe tossed a sympathy ride in bsb for his twilight year failing that endurance is a good place for hasbins ask Terry

" by the last few laps of Race 1 Shakey was 2/10s of a second off of Spies pace"

Of all the Shakey propaganda, that's the most misleading dribble of them all. Exactly who was Spies racing against at that point? NOBODY! So basically you are saying when Spies backed off with the win in his pocket Shakey still didn't have his pace. So save it.

I have nothing against Shakey at all but give us all a break. If you want to hype someone up with an inferior bike it should be Haslam.

your wasting your time on nitro nori I looked at some of his other postings and the guy/girl can't see the wood for the trees when it comes to shane byrne, he/she is too blinkered on him to see he realy is not good enough at this level and will jump on any pointless data like the 2/10ths thing when the race was all but won to try and justify byrne inclusion in WSBK and why it's never his fault, always the team or bike
