Sykes hasn't been impressive in any capacity. The bike is dominating in BSB and equal best in wins in WSBK. If he was at least threatening to podium you could forgive him for being so outclassed by Ben but he will be back to BSB next year.

Tom Sykes never did cut it in the BSB he just had a really good bike. I cant believe there aint loads of comments about Ben Spies on here yet, at the end of the day if Ben Spies had a good enough team mate u might be able to see the true potential of the YAM. If he had a team mate that was fighting with him u lot wouldnt be so quick to big him up cos theres a good chance he could get his a-hole kicked. Get Stoner as a team mate and then see how bad Ben is doing.

@SBK Fan - "how bad Ben is doing" ??!!!??? :?

As a rookie he's won every pole and half the races he's entered so far. He's on pace to be the greatest rookie rider in the history of wsbk.

If you rate Spies as bad so far please rate the rest of the field so we can all bask in your knowledge.

Sykes is not doing great but he has a two year contract with Yamaha so i don't imagine he'll be going anywhere soon. Grinner should be showing better by now imo and i am disappointed by his showing so far. Ben is without doubt head and shoulders above his team mate. I wouldn't be certain that another rider would come in and start kicking Ben around but it would be interesting to see. Nori and Ben on the same machinery would be something special, not gonna happen though as i don't think Yamaha can afford Vale, Ben AND Nori's wages lol

He's not a multi time champion in BSB so is he suppose to come in and dominate WSBK? No. Sykes is just a rookie in WSBK and is doing pretty decent. He's 7th in points - not 17th. He'll be ok.

I've searched the July 2008 postings when Ben was testing the GSVR at Indianapolis. However, finding the exact quotes or identifying the naysayers is pointless as Ben's talents have pretty much shut them up. :)

I think his move to WSBK is the best thing that could have happened to him in his career for the moment and hope he transitions into MotoGP when his WSBK contract expires. Good on you Ben! Break some more records! :p

But for the two 'technical' failure, Big Ben would be leading the WSBK right now and sitting on nine wins (add 50 points to his total and subtract 14 from Haga). He has really done the USA proud.

Sykes is doing a very good job, for a rookie. Spies, well he's just absolutely amazing! Can't really compare the two at this stage in their careers.

At the start of the season I thought Ducati would have an edge on development over Yamaha and be winning more races, but with Superman Spies riding it, the Yamaha has looked every bit the equal of the Duck.

I agaree with Ken. Sykes is doing a great job as a Rookie. It would be a difficult position for anybody to be a team mate with Spies. Spies is doing so well that anybody else would look weak. So instead of being praised for his performance, Sykes is being unfairly scrutinized by us.
Hey ... SB Fan: don't allow facts to sway your mindset.
It's not every year that someone with Spies skillset lands on us. So let's enjoy the rest of the season and watch it unfold.
