I thought Max had him covered in the closing stages. Biaggi caught him so quickly after he passed Fab that I though it was all but over. Spies really hung on and fought for this one. Looked like Max had the speed but Spies was a bit better on the brakes.

Nice one Ben, If I were you i could have tell him hey Fab next time if you do that make sure no one else in front/along with you. Its ok for fab to crash but at least he should not bring someone along with him. the worst happen is that he bring along Spies with him and injured him as well.
is that your new mission now Mr. Fab if you cant beat him might as well break him...

I am amazed that Spies is so close to leading this championship considering the amount of bad luck he has suffered over the season. If he fell into a barrel of tits he would come out sucking his thumb!
The guy is a class act.

Catching is one thing passing is a whole different thing. Biaggi's super smooth 250 style makes for very quick laps on a clean circuit however when you have to stuff it up on a hard braking rider it doesn't serve that well.

At least he had the class not to try force it and disrupt the championship any further/

Spies seems to be able to go just that tenth quicker when it matters. "Give them a little hope then crush em on the last lap"! Great race to watch! I was looking at the shot of Spies rear tire after the race and it still looked like it had plenty left! I heard he ran a med front and hard rear. His flying lap times were metronomic 2:00 and change though! Good on Pirelli for giving them a good tire!

If I were Spies I would have had Fabs apologize on TV before the 2nd race!

That being said, I think Max did have his number today but chose not to push for the win as noted by both he and the announcers. Old dogs can learn new tricks.

By the way, excellent weekend Corser!

At least the championship is still interesting. Take back race 1 at Philip Island, Race 1 at Valencia, Race 1 at Monza, Race2 at Assen, Race 1 at South Africa, Race 1 today at Brno and even give Spies 5th place finishes at all (which we know he would have done better than)and Mladin's prediction of Spies owning the title with rounds to go would have been pretty much a done deal.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. None of that happened for Ben the way he wanted and yet he looks to prove Mladin's foresight anyway. what to say? wow?

I think Spies took the incident pretty well. I am positive that Fabrizio and Ducati would NEVER want to take Spies out on purpose. But I would bet that many of the Ducatiste were smiling inside when Spies hit the ground. There was no other way for Haga to have been able to retain the points lead.
