I think Yammy09 was referring to issues that were not the riders fault, i.e. mechanical or taken out by someone else.

Unforced errors do not count as "lost" points in this regard, as that was their own mistake

I don't understand how people can come down on Fab for Italy. That win was Italian rider on Italian brand on Italian team on Italian track. If Ducati could get that magic combination right they'll take it! When was the last time they had that happen? As for Portugal, Fabrizio was anything but selfish. He helped Haga a whole lot that race. He stayed behind long enough to see that Haga couldn't pass, then pushed forward. Those guys then had to either fight to block him, which slowed them down, or fight to re-pass him which opened door for Haga to pass or forced them into making errors of their own. Haga lost out on the championship on his own. That's the nature of the sport.

budoist I agree with you totally. Fab was just doing his job that he is paid for, to go out and win. Its the job of the team manager to MANAGE the team, not the riders. Does anyone seriously believe that if Yamaha had drafted in a replacement for Sykes over the last few rounds they would have been happy for that person to finish ahead of Spies and reduce his points total? Ducati have really paid for their arrogance. Maybe they thought Spies would go crap at the end of the season and it would be an easy win?

Nori Nori Nori nori no

I've come to realize that as much as I love him, Haga is the World Superbike version of the Chicago Cubs. I'm hoping to be able to at least upgrade him to Julis Erving status next year. Pardon the mixed metaphor.

Haga is a great personality. I like him so much and I really liked him to be first but...he enjoys life a bit too much (smoking, ...)... This is why he's always second.
If you see what a dedication and offers athletes as Ben Spies can bring his world championship title is more than deserved. A great career is in front of him...go Ben go!!!

LOLOLOL.. Haga lost because he smokes???

Rossi's mate Uccio (?) was having a nifty fag when he was filmed at the Isle Of Man standing next to Rossi. You just KNOW Rossi had had a few drags seconds before...

Wasn't it Barry Sheene who had a hole drilled in the front of his helmet so he could have a fag before races? (seriously)

Haga could have won the championship if Fabrizio conceded that his chance to win the championship in Imola race when he took five points away from haga is gone. i know mathematecally he still have a chance but to think that BS won more race between him and haga combine. that five points that he took from haga is become pivotal on the final round as haga suppose to have a 15 points but instead 10 ponits. if he really want to help haga he could have given that win on race 2 because he look behind him and he saw haga not rea behind him but then he proceeded to take the checkered flag.. my point is! he dont what place spies is but if he ment what he said that he will help haga all the way..

continue... he could have given that win to haga instead of taking it for himself.. Fab is racing for himself and it is clearly that he is a selfish teammate. i feel more bad to haga having a teammate like fab. than he looses his championship to spies.. almost everybody expect spies will take a double win in portimao even though haga did not crash on race one.

I don't know that Fabrizio saw that it was Haga behind him. He had a serious lead when Haga made his move to 2nd. With all of the elevation changes, it might have been possible to make out the actual rider all the way back. Even if he did, can you imagine the riot that would have followed if he slowed down enough to let Haga pass him in the last half? Ducati would definitely lose some race fans at that point, and for nothing because Haga would still have lost by 1 point.

How much help does Haga need to win the championship? Fab torpedoed Spies out of a race lead (and the only times he lost in that position the bike broke) and people are still complaining that he didn't help enough.
