Well done indeed. As well as Leon Camier's BSB win, according to the Eurosport commentary R1s also won the French, Dutch and German superbike championships!

C'mon man don't be a party pooper.

There were 3 other R1s and R6s that didn't even make to the podium all year and you give Rossi the merit?

Maybe in AMA but in WSBK, BSB and WSS the difference was obviously the riders. (The R6 is not a big bang btw).

I guess it will take years for people to realize how big of an accomplishment this is for "the rookie" Ben Spies.

BTW I think Ben Spies would have kicked ass even on last years bike.

Over the past few years I keep noticing more and more errors in the actual writing of Crash articles. For example, from this article, "A tense day for team manager Massimo Meregalli as he watched Spies ride for fifth position in the final race of the season, he was relieved to finally see his rider cross the finish line to be crowned champion." The subject of the sentence is the day Meregalli had, but changes to M. himself. This isn't a huge deal, but Crash is a proffesional journalistic website, and it's getting worse. I really expect better.

Yamaha have been involved in top level racing and have continued supporting our sport since the sixties.Honda and suzuki can't ever claim that sort of loyalty to the riders and fans.As for Kawasaki and their lousy support and performance over many years makes me wonder why they bother at all.I will continue buying Yamaha for as long as they continue supporting racing.

There is another championship won by the new R1, this one being the most technically difficult, and that is the world endurance championship won by YART
