Not being subject to the new engine rules and being the last race his bike probably had one of the older more powerful engines they were using pre Brno.

His bike was one of the fastest down the straights so that may explain it

But on a track thats 2nd & 3rd gear corners doeasn't really allow you to exploit that

Making the jump to a new bike and new tyres with no other tsting on the bike and getting it set up well enough to finissh 7th.

Hat's off to a class act and roll on 2010 season

Um, they stated yeterday that Ben's bike was the best Yamaha on the grid as it was the test bike with all the new bits on it. There were bits on it that neither Rossi or J-Lo had on their bike. Having said that, a test bike might not be as good as a factory bike as some of those bits on it might not be all that.
I was really impressed with Ben, he didn't do anything silly and he waited until he had a bit more confidence with the bike and new tyres and then passed 4 riders on track cleanly. He looks the part and when Suzie Perry interviewed him after the race he said the bike was still better than he was and he is still learning. And he helped Colin get 5th by passing Dovi. Top man :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Spies got off the gas a bit at corner exits. Not used to wheelie control so he was still doing it manually even when it wasn't needed?

The next couple of days should give us all some insight as to next years pecking order.

Simoncelli: is he smelly? Esparago: is he slow? Ayoama: is this yo' mama? Elbow Spies: can he please?
Vally Rossi: will he lead the possy? Jorge Lorenzo: will he know when to whoa?

as has been pointed out, all of ben's passes were on the brakes going into corners, not powering by on the straight. If motor is all you need, then why cant the satt ducs win any races?

the ppl making exuces for riders that get beaten on this site are getting downright ridiculous.

I think Ben will only get faster on the T3 machine. Sure it wont be factory spec but he's still got a lot of learning to do. I cant wait to see how he does at Qatar next year, with some proper testing under his belt.

@Mr. Cubik, I believe the best description is the newest protoype M1. its not yet properly tweaked if you want the best M1 its the bike of Rossi and Lorenzo since it already been tweak to its optimum state.
