At least Shakey is staying in the series - something that he definitely deserves but not sure how good the bike will be! Will be interesting to see if he can beat his team mate and some of the factory riders.

good news, reading on mcn website that he getting top spec 1198 unlike this year. He is going to fly if the team got the funds to buy the developments off ducati when they come.

Great news. Checa would not have signed at his stage in his career if the bikes are going to be rubbish. (Ducati's come "good to go" as a race bike anyway not like the 4 cylnders bikes)So as long as they are a good spec and you've a good crew chief I dont see any problem. There aint much development left in the 1098 anyway as its already three years old. The team seem like they have got money behind them to be able to sign byrne and checa.

Bring it on!!

Just hope shakey comes out the blocks flying because if a shortage of funds hits Althea then I bet it'll be Carlos keeping his seat and shakey losing his.

After a good end to the season I'm gutted he didn't get a top ride, but then he has the wrong passport I guess.

Seems as decent a move as any given what's available (the second Aprilia was the other 'top' option), and while Checa won't be bothering anyone for race wins he's always a handy yardstick.

Hopefully if they can start the season on the right foot he'll be a contender from the off and challenge for the podium now and again - maybe top 6-8 overall? (will be hard in what will again be a very strong field, but possible)

Considering Shakey has been on a Ducati for many seasons and won 2 BSB titles on them compared to Carlos who has not raced for them I expect Shakey to whoop his ass next year. Lets just hope its competitive machinery this time unlike 2009.
