To get 11 pole positions out of 14 in his first year, at tracks he had never even seen before. Incredible, some other top riders have never had 11 poles in a full career. The man was head and shoulders above all the others. Also he didn t moan about "new track, new tyres, new bike" he just got on with it.  :)Merry Christmas everyone.

He came.......

He saw............

He kicked everyone's ass........

He's added his name to the long and distinguished listed of Americans gone abroad to claim a World Title. He's been added to the list of King Kenny, F. Spencer, E. Lawson, F. Merkel, D. Polen, K. Schwantz, W. Rainey, S. Russell, J. Kocinski, C. Edwards, KRJR, Nicky Hayden.

I knew Spies would be good but jeez - I didn't know he would be THAT good right off the bat.

I want to see him be the first to win both MotoGP and WSBK titles. He has a HUGE mountain to climb in the next few years but from what I've seen since he was riding 600's I think he's up to it.

well deserved, Ben was nothing short of a phenomena!!...he will have a great GP season and I expect a possible GP championship in 2011, his meteoric rise looks to be going for quite some time!...the pole positions and wins set Ben apart from other WSBK winners, not to mention NO experience. Well done Ben!!..can't wait to watch you next year!......we will also see how good Ben is by how well JT & CC ride his bike. They have tons more experience than him, so 'theoretically' they shoud be winning the championship, but that aint gonna happen!...Ben is in a class of his own

Ben is obviously an amazing talent. Should be quite the interesting battle next year between him (the rookie) and Rossi (the champ/veteran).

I don't think Spies will regularly challenge for MotoGP wins in his first season, but a few podiums are certainly a possibility. He is already better than Edwards, #3 according to crash.net :)

Will the Fantastic Four in MotoGP become the Fabulous Five next year? I doubt it, but if he can get on the factory team in 2011 alongside Lorenzo or Rossi he could become a real threat.

9 out of 10 average? Which one of you idiots gave him lower than 10? 'Fess up! He could have become the greatest WSBK rider of all time. Instead he goes to GP. I think he will do better there than any other WSBK rider has done, but he will have to get used to not winning half the races. He should be the most interesting story of 2010. We'll see. . .
