Colin Edwards, in MotoGp Silverstone race some weeks ago, had a total time of 37'46.851, after 18 laps, Finishing 9th.
Cal Crutchlow finished the 18 laps of the race with a total time of 37'47.851
Exactly one second between a YZR M1 and a YZF R1 :p

Edwards pace fall a lot in the last 3 laps(18, 19, 20) while Cal kept his pace much better(he was a sec faster then Edwards in his last laps and he set the race record in lap 12 or 13).

For a superbike machine to fight for 9th place in MotoGP, is a small miracle.

Considering the differences in weight, power, brakes and other technologies, let alone the cost difference between the 2 bikes, Cal's performance is even more worthy. Fair play to him.

Well done to JR and Leon too.

Just goes to show that the downsizing of MotoGPs engines to 800cc was the stupidest idea ever. A souped up road going bike has the same level of performance of a prototype machine. Sad. MotoGP is really becoming the F1 of two wheels.

Great result. Taking nothing away from Cal, but these comments remind me when Steve Hislop (BSB) went faster than Rossi (MotoGP).... That's the target to beat!

yeah, czechhero. Just looking at Edwards top speed in the race: 312km/h and Crutchlow: 288km/h you get the proof of technological differences. And this doesn't include the advantage from electronics and carbon brakes!

Great race from Cal, waiting for the double :) :)

WoW WoW...
what are you guys talking about???
I'm a MotoGP fan BUT a SuperBike finishing top ten in MotoGP times is amazing!!!
and as for the top speeds I'm sure they are taken at different spots, just like the sector times.
its about Fricking time the Yamaha team delivers.
the guys where complaining about tire wear out too quickly, and this race Cal did some of his best laps at the end.
Maybe The Doctor found something???
