While his team-mate has won a race this season, Byrne's best result in 2010 has been a sixth place finish.

Shakey certainly doesn't lack in talent, the guy was superb on the 1098 in BSB, beating the likes of camier, crutchlow, sykes and haslam in that season, all be it apart from haslam the other 3 were far less experienced and younger at the time.

Byrne seems to lack in effort at times, for whatever reason, but great rider.

''I am still the same rider that was beating them when things were a bit more equal.''
Not quite so sure about the 1098 title winning bike being as equal as the rest, he had a biig advantage. The monstermob Ducati was no slouch either and both BSB title winning bikes were one of the very few factory bikes making their way outside Italy !!
For a guy that's got so much natural talent, I can't help but think he hasn't made the best of it. Just my humble opinion but maybe he needs the psychological aspect of having the advantage ( specifically Ducati ) of factory support in order to thrive ??

Last 2 yrs he has been disapointing, and you have 2 wonder why. Why carnt he ride the wheels off that Ducati? In the past he has ridden the wheels off crap bikes in motogp and bsb, he has also wiped the flore with the whole wsb field on a private ducati! Kenny Roberts rates him very high and said "Shaky hits the brakes when Rossi does and get on the gas when Rossi does, only diff is Rossi's bike goes forward". I expected him to retire Checa this year. Colin Wright said he is fast on anything he just needs the correct people round him. So maybe Shaky back to bsb on a gse bmw!!! Think its all in his head, just ride the wheels off the thing like u know you can.

All things considered, with the factory ducs doing poorly this season his standing wouldn't be so bad if Checa wasn't beating him 95% of the time.

I really want to see him do well, and I hope he gets another chance.
