WSBK » Haslam: We got the most out of what we had

2010 World Superbike Championship bridesmaid Leon Haslam reflects on a 'nearly' year that - had he only received the 'step forward' he was looking for mid-season - might have yielded an altogether different outcome...

With the possible exception of BSB that really does confirm what's been mooted for a while ... Suzuki are seriously and comprehensively fkd.

Its a big shame and bad for bike racing but its a bit bleedin obvious.

I really feel for Leon & Bata, so unfortunate. Probably self-defeating on Suzuki's part too.
Hard to imagine they dug themselves into that willingly but Japanese Corporate minds really can be inscrutable at times. Just hope the whole thing's not about to fall apart.

Should have added:

Typically frank, honest account from Leon.
Really respect the guy.
Hope he does well on the BM. For certain he's up to it, but the bike .... not so sure.

I'm not sure what to think about the BMW. Corser scored some decent results last year but hasn't looked in danger of winning a race for some time now so it's hard to gauge. I'm inclined to think there might be a bit more to come from the bike and with a different rider it might potentially be a winner. It wouldn't surprise me if Leon is outpacing Troy early on next season. If it'll be enough to beat Biaggi next year though? I think not. Either way, they need to hurry up and get things started, i'm fed up wating already!

I think Leon (and Ron) will get the BMW sorted but I think year 2 will be the winning one. Year 1 will be top tens all the way and the odd podium, getting progressively better as he sorts out tyres and bike set up. Hope I'm wrong and he wins first time out

This is what leon was dying to say, ill edit his quote slightly.........

Max was just super-consistent and fast and he finished every race in the points, and had the best bike on the grid by far, and that's what wins titles

Everyone knows that Maxs Aprilia was in a league of its own. It was even far better than his team mates.

Max/Aprilia won the title, with the majority of the credit going to Aprilia for building an awesome bike.

Leon/Suzuki came 2nd, with the majority of the credit going to Leon for riding the **** off that Suzuki!

@jake I'm no fan of Max's, but he won the title fair and square riding with his usual precission on a well sorted bike. Though I would say that Leon's second place does him more credit given the bike he was riding. If I owned a team and had to hire a rider I'd hire Leon.

Nicely explained by Leon, inspite of the package they got from Suzuki he finished 2nd. Imagine if he had the same factory deal as Max and Corser. Sure to be the next rookie of MotoGP 2011.

sweeble, yeah ia agree max did win fair and square as its not his fault he has a far superior bike to the rest of the competition. However, there are many othert riders that would have won on that bike, in fact id say half a dozen easily. Haslam being one of them of course.

It will be interesting to see how biaggi fairs against his team mate next season, now that camier has exposed he'll be on the same bike as biaggi for 2011, instead of having a second rate bike in 2010.
