JR was 1.5secs faster than 2nd place for almost all of the first session and only got closed down on the final laps (throw in a soft tyre perhaps?) he was on it!
WTF is happening with Marco Melandri? He was last all the way through the 90mins. (and did 21 laps overall)

Rea set his time very early and held at least 1.5s from 2nd for most of the session. Biaggi and Sykes were the next most consitent of the top 5 or 6. Melandri making slow progress but he was way off is early on so his final time isn't so bad. It's going to be an interesting next couple of days.

@Heyhuub don't forget Marco is still suffering a little from the shoulder surgery and Norge is getting to grips with the superbike as he still finds himself falling into "supersport mode" as he put it. Also everyone is going to be finding a base setting so I wouldn't read to much into this 1st session. :)
