Assen should be a good litmus test to gauge JR's prospects this year. He was so dominant here last year and it was a real highlight of his season.

He's struggled a bit so far this year though, and if Assen doesn't go well for him, you'd have to think the rest of the year could be tough too.

Hopefully he can start to take the fight to Checa and Melandri and pull back some of that points advantage.

I'm a big fan of JR but his bike needs velcro on the seat to stop him falling off ! He's so very fast but needs to back off just a touch to get to the finish and score some points

its a shame for johnny, he's bike clearly isnt the best out there and if you start over riding you fall off i'm afraid.

give the guy a chance and build him something decent to race on !!

DonR, personally i dont think that Assen, or any other track for that matter, will show us how his year is going to go. Simply because Rea is inconsistent, so one round he can do the double, the other round he could struggle to get top ten finishes. He's that inconsistent it wont really tell us anything. I hate to say it but i think Rea is going to be another 'almost' rider. Yes, he can win races, but i dont think he has a championship in him. I really hope he proves me wrong though, but i doubt it.

If sheer guts & determination won races, then Jonny would be right at the front!! Give him every credit for never giving up, trying his best and doing everything possible every time he races! My money is on Jonathan Rea as I know he will come good - Assen is where he excells!!!!

Yes Assen is where he can excell (isnt Assen the home track for the team?), but a few good rounds wont bag him a championship. Consistency will. Does he have it? Well he has not shown us anything to suggest he does yet.
