The Irishman showed remarkable race craft to defend from Biaggi in race one, before battling back to pass Melandri in race two.

Superb performances from Eugene today. I always thought he'd go well on a superbike but I didn't expect wins this soon.

I notice he's now adopted the leg trailing style favoured by most of the faster MotoGP guys, so maybe he's already looking to the next step up?

To out-shine, out-wit and out-ride a motogp legend like Melandri on his home ground and as Melandri was desperate to show his act to Yamaha is unbelievable, Norge has just seeled his career in one weekend. Legend.

umm I dont believe Melandri has ever raced at Monza before this weekend.

I feel for Biaggi. He isnt the most likable character at times but he was robbed in the second race.

Poor Haga. He has the slowest Aprilia out there.

indeed, Melandri wasnt as familiar with the track and didnt have the set up, i dont think anyone will be surprised come the end of the season that Melandri finishes higher than his team mate and wins more races

Cannot take anything away from the young Irishman though, was a great showing.
