Anybody thinking he's a world champion material is naive.

20 years of racing with the best teams & bikes, never been close to be a contender even one time, only 2 wins in 150 gp raced, middle pack rider on the Ten Kate bike for years..... & now he's DESTROYING the field ?

Sorry, Carlos Checa is good but not THAT good.

If he is not championship material then why is he leading the championship..??

Max Biaggi's Aprillia is certainly good enough to keep up with the Ducati but where is Biaggi, equally Melandri's Yamaha is also good enough and he is 74 points adrift Checa has ridden brilliantly against good opposition.

To say his isn't championship material is a baffling thing to say.

There go the knockers again, makes me chuckle every time.

Of course he is championship material, he is leading by a mile and will be champion this year.

So many idiots on here do not realise what it takes to win. Every rider on that grid is an outstanding rider, they would not be there otherwise, so for one outstanding rider to beat another outstanding rider, everything for him has to be more perfect than for the other guy. We are talking very very small things to be exactly in place, and it only takes one thing not to gel, for the rider not to win.

So please stop slagging these guys off all the time, after all, i would love to see any of you knockers get on these bikes and even be able to ride them, let alone fast!!!

ummm....Checa was on a screamer M1 Yamaha, not exactly a good bike and the Honda CBR has hardly set the world on fire in WSBK since James Toesland's in 2007.

Carlos has clicked with this bike, last year and this year. That is an awesome combination to beat.

I would agree with most of the comments here in that Carlos is an experienced, classy and fast rider and he has just clicked with a bike that handles beautifully and has been well developed. This the triumph of a combination working in harmony.
