Checa becomes the first Spaniard to win the World Superbike title as he does what he needs to put the crown out of Marco Melandri's reach.

Whatever you think of his bike advantage? He's a deserving and popular champion! Not like last years! Where was Biaggi? Is he really that injured?

so we get the "champion" the Flammini's & Pirelli wanted. Most of the races this year have been slower on race times than last year due to Pirelli giving Ducati a leg up (to add to the one they are getting with equal weight & a 200cc capacity advantage) by making a tyre that suits the twin. No Ducrapy WSB title will ever mean anything. Fogarty, Bayliss & now Checa what exactly did you win on other makes of bikes that played by fair competition?......Nothing.

A thoroughly deserving WSBK champion. I don't think the bike has such a great advantage as everybody makes out. Checa's consistency and speed has won him the championship this year.

Congratulations Checa!

I find the "extra 200 cc" comments amusing. These comments must come from people who...

A) Have never ridden/owned a Ducati
B) Are unfamiliar with twin cylinder motor characteristics

My race-prepped 848 is really no faster than a supersport 600 or 750 despite having the extra cc's (...but two less cylinders and generally a lower redline). An 1198 is no faster than a 4-cyl 1000 either. Where the twins do have the advantage is low-end grunt, but at the expense of top-end power.

Let's see if I can explain this on a level that the little kiddies can understand...Ducati and Checa won. Period. End of story. Anyone that believes that Ducati got any special advantage is an absolute freaking idiot. The rules give ANY TWIN the same 200cc bump. Why doesn't BMW enter their twin and take advantage of the absolute guarantee of winning? How about Aprilia? KTM? Yeah, that's what I thought. When you idiots can come up with a valid arguement, post up.

@rosso
are you a deluded Ducati owner/fan by any chance?
If the Japanese decided to do things **** about face and design prototypes specifically for a production series like Ducati have & then cry to,in their case (fellow countrymen) organisers when they are not winning then rest assured, they would SMASH Ducati out of sight
Is it purely coincidence then that ALL the records of wins/titles are by Ducati riders, WSB is a corrupt championship & Ducati are like the mafia

Didn't Honda build a Ducati type (SP) bike and kick ar$e with Edwards on board? Thought so. So to all you fools that whinge about the format, if the japs wanted to, and thought it was unfair, they would build bikes to suit the rules. But they don't, so live with it. Goodonya Checa. Well deserved.
