I don't think for a second Ten Kate are thinking what if? I've nothing against Carlos Checa but basically until the Flammini's handed Ducati an even bigger advantage on the basis of their flawed "balancing rule" Checa was only doing ok on the bike. I hear he hasn't agreed terms for next year, Carlos jump on a proper bike again that plays a fair game and retain the title & you may just have my respect. Anybody who believes Ducati & Checa don't have a massive technical advantage at present is seriously deluded. Ducati WSB titles mean absolutely nothing.

re: "Winning on the best bike with your main rival having injury problems."

i'll concede your point to a degree. however, checa already had the measure of biaggi (3/4's if not 7/8's of the season) prior to his unfortunate accident. though it would've been nice if biaggi could've remained in it. aprilia didn't even bother with a replacement. either alitalia must be pulling the plug at season's end...? or they're a very understanding sponsor...?

I like Checa and don't like the 1198.
Checa was able to pass at will.

His gap over the finish line was worse (greater) than the posted times because he would typically coast on the last lap.

So hip-hip-hooray to allowing a V-twin with all the associated advantages of a twin and then compensate for horse power by allowing a 20% displacement advantage.

No one is stopping any other manufacturer from fielding a twin, honda has done it in the past, best rider/bike package wins as simple as that, its the WHOLW team that wins the title, not just the rider or the bike, and until you can step up and race like these guys, you steve929 can shut your trap.

Well done Charlie Chuck'it and Ducati!!!!!

@ Craig upchuck
So, because 1 manufacturer builds a twin and wants to play in the Big Bore league, ALL other manufacturers would have to spend their resources to build a crappy twin to compete against the Ducrapi?

Instead of fielding already perfectly functional kick-a55 4's?

Sorry, I won't shut up.

How about the baseline in a race series be a common engine displacement?

Well done Carlos and congratulations to you and the team. Of course they were using bikes that had such a huge 'advantage' that anybody could just jump on and win.
Maybe you could ask Fabrizio and Haga just how easy it is if you are still w@nking off to your i4's lack of domination in motorsport these days... It isn't
