Carlos Checa needs just one win from the final round to become the 'winningest' rider over a single season in twenty years.

Faceplam. if he does it'll be v.embarrassing to see such a career underachiever and crasher get this record. Can only win on the Ducati too-shite on the Honda.

Forget it if hes a 'nice guy'. So are are lot of people- so they all get chance after chance after chance-No.

I think all these people who like and cheer Checa must have only been watching racing the last 2 years.
They havent had to see him trundle round dissapointing for a decade.

It's great to see Checa riding so well i started watching him in 2001 and immediately liked him but he was very disappointing because he would crash so much but now he is proving his doubters wrong... it's great to see... I'd rather see a rider hit their peak later in their career than hit it early then be nowhere later in their career.

I dont see why some people have a problem with Carlos , yes he was known for crashing, yes he has taken his time to achive a championship and he is old for a champion. But do remeber he has had some great wins in his time and been though some massive accidents to finally achive his goal. If he didnt crash while pushing in for the win he would have better stats. I suggest you go watch some of his early races and then let us know what you think.

I dunno, I believe he had just gelled with the Duke perfectly. It was obvious last year already, I thought if he gets factory support he will be a serious contender. It has nothing to do with being nice or not nice, he did not make almost any mistake while the others made plenty. Some people just can not process this so theyre bitching about the +200ccm. If you have the best equipment you still have to ride it (Pedrosa and MotoGP championships anyone?) flawless. Anyhow, you guys should get used to this, cause next year Checa will be no different. :) Unfortunately it is too easy to distract Biaggi, Melandri and Haslam enjoy BMW and the CBR of Rea is not getting any younger so he will make mistakes just enough to compensate. If Laverty gets into the factory Aprilia-team, he might have a word or two about the championship but so far I do not see anyone else who has a chance to challenge Carlos.
