TBH, it is a pole about who was most impressive.

Yes, he missed 6 races due to an injury not of his own doing, but, prior to that injury, as a defending champion, his season was fairly unremarkable in comparison to his previous one.

I also think votes could be jaded by his "conduct" on track.

Not sure why anyone is surprised by this, it was exactly the same last year! Just 'who is your favorite rider' rather than 'who performed the best' would be a better title.

note to crash: don't ask fans what they think about something, as other fans that don't agree with the majority view will get stroppy.

biaggi was voted 2nd last year, wonder why he slipped so much. obviously the vote is about the whole picture, not just what results they get on the track.

i guess biaggi's run-ins with 'nice-guys' like melandri etc are what have turned people against him.

Max needs not to appear so stern and enjoy it, he is a great rider but appears grim.I am sure he has a nice side and he should show this more because he has little to prove on track !

I think it's more about how you do when your equipment and team are taken into account. Max can be an absolutely brilliant rider, but given the team he was with he should have done better. His low position is compounded by the number of errors he made (particularly that ride through) and the fact that he has a controversial character. I would have put him higher, but not much.

Max was a GOOD 250 rider, not gonna say great because I presume the 250 he was on was top notch machinery. The reason he won last year was that the aprilia was well lets say a GP engine in a road based chassis.Take a look at his history on a big bike, there's a lot of riders of not so high of a standing have handed his ass to HIM. This year Carlos, who is about the same age of the old Ducati he rides whooped his sorry little ass.

Slapped, bitched, blocked, mystery little toe illness, the guys lucky to get position 9.

I think Donington set the tone for most people's views on Max on this site, not to mention him blocking numerous riders on fast laps and not bothering to turn up to the Monza briefing, leading to his ride-through at the first chicane.

For a rider of his class, on THAT bike, he should've performed so much better, but the weakest link was whatever is in the space between his ears!

So 4 world title in 250 does not make someone a great rider, only good. Even if he won on different bikes. That tells everything how people feel about Biaggi. Not if he was not the one to blame for it, but still.
