Corner speed is the key for Tom,he has maybe cottoned on to the fact that his rushing in to corners then being slow on the exit is holding him back-he has always had this style on the big bikes and it does not work to punish the front tyre so hard...Heres hoping for a change in 2012 and the possibility of beating his team-mate?

Sykes is a brilliant rider, but has never really proven himself as a consistent contender. back in the bsb days he was average some races, racing winning the next and then just not really on it. He still has a lot to learn himself, tend to think another year in bsb would have done him good. Be good to see the green machine back up there!

@Norm

Tom is a 'brilliant' rider compared to me,but on the world stage? He was paired with a 'brilliant' team-mate in 09 and was made to look decidedly average,moreso when you look at what Laverty done on that yamaha (in his rookie year on a superbike).It's harsh to say it but if Tom hadn't had that fortunate steady ride at Nurburgring he would be racing in BSB next year.

You can't compare what Laverty or even Crutchlow and Toseland did on the Yam to Tom's ride on the R1 as it was a substantially changed bike when they got it. Spies was fantastic and made the bike look better than it was, he's renowned for being able to ride pigs fast that's why he's so good when the tyres go off. Sykes did well with what he had. I personally believe Tom has what it takes to run with the Laverty's and Crutchlow's of the bike world when he gets things sorted out... he's raced and beaten them before remember...

In my opinion the 2011 ZX was good enough to win races.
The problem was the riders ability to perform at this level.
The team was below the demands.The same excuses all the time,the tyres were not working was the easy answer.
Now the Spanish guys has to prove something,Lascorz had his rookie year so no excuses for him for 2012.
Sykes should be in BSB,the factory believes in him so he has one more chance,i want to be wrong.
I am waiting since 1993 and 1994 to see my favourite firm to be at the highest level,i dont want wins every weekend but something better than fighting for the 12th and 13th position at the final standings.

Here we go with the same old nonsense,the Yam was a dog when Sykes raced it but now its fantastic when Laverty rides it,I am waiting for next season to see how Laverty goes on the Aprilia,If he does well no doubt it will be a substantially different bike to what Camier raced.

Do you apologists ever listen to yourselves? next thing nasty nick will be on saying Sykes is Gonna win the MotoGp title on a Kawasaki engined CRT in 2013 because he turned in some fast laps in testing!

sykes has beat laverty before, err dont think so,and whats this rossi speak arriving at the front,used to be running with the front guys or what ever,difference between laverty and the grinner sykes is, laverty just does it, and the grinner talks excuses for not doing it,laverty on a kawasaki,would probably (arrive at the front), tom needs to do more every week.

im not sure about many things...but in 2009 for sure Yamaha stay with Spies, is a logical thing because he is brilliant, but do you really thing a 6th in championship is soo bad? remember 2009 with many toughts contender (Haga, Corser, Spies...) and i would like to see Laverty (or anybody) on a Kawasaki...i bet you anothers dont stay at the front...maybe not enough smooth and maybe is not a genious, but for sure he is a very very good rider, the last year 2010 show skills too
