I think he would hv finished 3rd. If the Ducati makes full scale return in 2013 they r going to fight for 6kg rule as they always mended rules in their favour and it is regarded as the most unfavourable thing for WSBK (so it was calld d Ducati cup). Anyways lets c where he stands in 2012 but with 6kgs more he may not win it I suppose. may be 2nd or 3rd.

The rules do not favour Ducati, they never have, Ducati have won so much for one simple reason, they employ the best riders. If all you neede to win was a red bike, then the first 4 positions in WSB would have been Ducati, and saying that Checa only won because of Ducati, is ludicrous, it implies anyone (me included!) could jump on a WSB spec Duke and win, and i can assure you that wouldn't happen.

A bike is only as good as the guy riding it!!!

Well he won 2 races in 2008 and none in 2009 on a 4 cylinder Honda,when that bike was new and arguably at its most competitive,so i see no reason that he would improve on that,he hasnt spent his whole career being a midfield runner then improved massively over these last 2 years.With the top ten as competitive as it is now i would have to place him 6th or 7th unfortunately.

The posters on this site never fail to make me laugh!

First it gets posted that Max was only good enough for 9th because he didn't win it on the best bike then it gets posted that Checa won because he was on the best bike.

Can't have it both ways boys! lol

Sykes 5th?! lol

@mad phil
carlos has 24 podiums at moto gp level.only biaggi and melandri in the current field have better credentials than place him 6 or 7 is ridiculous.

Does nothing but crash through his Motogp career and is widely criticised for it, severely outclassed by Rossi coming in 12th to Valentinos 1st in 2004, rides for free hes so rubbish, then 3 years of nada in WSB before a runaway win on the Ducati.......

Come on people.

3 years of nada in WSB? Last year he would have been a serious problem for Biaggi and Haslam if he had the factory support and the duke would not have broke down so many times. I was not the biggest fan of Checa during his MotoGP visit but especially this year he raced mature, calm and predictable...almost faultless. A very few rider can do that even on the best bike. Dominating where it was possible and damage controll, where it was necesarry. We will see what he will do with the old duke this year, but I would not expect him to be a any slower.
