'I need to ride a lot more to try to learn the bike and the tyres because everything is still very new' - Hiroshi Aoyama

...or Nakano who retired after just one season with very disappointing results. Hope Aoyama is not burnt out after his not-so-good 800cc outing. Seems like Japanese riders are not what they used to be - Aoyama and Takahashi are the best we have, both disappointing in last seasons.

Aoyama was brilliant in 250GPs and adequate in MotoGP, but if he doesn't beat JR regularly his days in the team are numbered. For JR this is a great opportunity as if he is seen to be showing an ex MotoGP rider the way, it's going to look good for his career.

jimmy, please, some more memory, Nakano was bad injury his last year with Aprilia, and also his last year 2007 in MotoGP was with a SUPERBAD bike (Konica Minolta Honda),remember that in 2007 the Honda, even the official, was very very bad,
sweeble, come on, the best japanese we have is Haga, but nobody want to pay and offer a GOOD bike, Aoyama is not brilliant or superb in 250,s , just regular, while he let Sicmoncelli getin out the rivals, and by his own at Assen against Bautista, i would like to see what happen if Honda give a REAL good bike,

Moses-

I think you need some memory as well because Nakanos' last season in MotoGP was 08, he rode for Honda Gresini and put in a impressive season to finish 9th. And he came WSB with Aprilia in 09 and got injured, he did get a 4th in Qatar, so he did ok when healthy. Talking about Aoyama, crash have put a very bad spin on what he has said. If you read the MCN cover then it puts a better light on the situation, it says he continued to impress by coming a few tenths from Rea's time. So I wouldn't worry to much about Aoyama, he is a good rider. And I think 10th in MotoGP was a good year for Aoyama

Already with the nonsense?
Aoyama's days are numbered already? Come on. Ridiculous.

And sounds like you are putting Rea on some pedestal. He is good, but he hasn't shown anything but flashes of brilliance. Calm down. They are both still learning the trade.

@ Tucker

Too true.
And to judge Aoyama on last year's results is harsh. Being on plainly inferior machinery to his team mate, being ahead of him, and STILL being spoken down quite harshly in the press by his team OWNER of all people will knock anyone's confidence / morale.

The kid is quick and I think he SHOULD do really well. Lets just hope he adjusts to WSBK conditions.
I don't think Ten Kate will be putting too much pressure on him, and there's no way he'll be worse than Xaus or Neukirschner were...

@ Tamil

True and false. I do agree that there's no way you can say his days are numbered.
BUT, Rea has shown when his machinery is on par with the rest he's LIGHTNING quick. But this is a make or break season for him as far as AT LEAST consistency is concerned.

Hes still a rookie. Give him some time to adjust on a superbike. Next yr he will outperform most thats for sure. His inclusion can convince some good performers in motogp to join WSBK. They can move to WSBK instead of wasting their time on CRTs atleast. Al d best Aoyama.

tucker, sweeble and jimmy

sorry, im no memory, i just check, you right, 2008 Nakano with Gresini, i dont know why i forgett, maybe i was soo deception about Nakano is not on the Kawasaki, i erase it, and that BAD honda,

Aoyama is regular-normal up to good rider, but not awesome or brilliant for me, Rea is very fast and show since 3 years at least he is very very good, if Kiyonari give up from BSB, Haga out (BSB rumuors), ye, the best we have is Aoyama, but i prefer Takahashi, Tomizawa (ma men...) was on the same level at least, with a good bike Ao could engage, as Takahashi or Tomizawa...hope some superstyle from Japan since Katoh take care, and please forgive me mistakes, i just crossed i supose...
