i've heard of teams pulling out because they can't find a sponsor...

but for a sponsor to pull out 'cos it can't find a team is rubbish news - we need sponsors pouring their money into our sport.

I really cannot understand the mentality of Suzuki, this is the showcase for their top level superbikes, with a loyal and well respected partner. I understand the reason for ditching the prototype MotoGP class as it does not necessarily translate in bikes sales, but this seems like a complete and utter mistake.

Sad news for Alstare but, the immediate future for production racing is non-works involvement and, this has been obvious for a while now. Where one falls another rises, good luck Jack Valentine and Crescent!

"I understand the reason for ditching the prototype MotoGP class as it does not necessarily translate in bikes sales" but it does. Look at sales accross europe for GSXR's and its clear that WSB is not that great shopping window.

Am I missing something, what sponsor?
Suzuki was the main backer of Alstare since the loss of Corona, others were just co sponsor like Viru. Batta wasn't just asking for more technical involvement from Suzuki, he wanted more cash as well. Many will disagree but its up there on his web-site.
