I'm a little worried here, nothing against Checa, but if he's getting these times ill and with extra weight it doesn't bode well for the season. If he's got more in hand he would also sandbagging to avoid extra weight. You get the feeling that they have only fielded a second bike so that they can show how slow that one is in case they want to put on some extra handicap weight mid season.

@Sweeble, you don't need a second bike to show how slow is that one ... just take a look at 2011 results. Checa's Ducati was the ONLY fast one on a consistent basis. So if Carlos hadn't raced last year ... would Ducati been imposed with the 6Kg penalty??? ... NO!

I think you are worrying and over analysing sweeble - Phillip Island is a fast flowing circuit and also one of Checa winningest tracks, so I don't think we can read much into these times.

Plus they added the 6kg weight disadvantage when the formula didn't actually require it - the second Ducati was a long way back on points - the same with the previous 3kg weight increase.

Fastest Checa overcomes happyness, extra 200cc

We of course have a significant advantage with the extra 200cc on board...and we are confident in Carlos abilities - Althea's Genesio Bevilacqua.

Yes, be realistic.

The fact that Ducati had to add 6Kg means what?

Let me shed some light. It means that the slide rule calculation of adding 198cc to even out performance is not fool proof.

It means we have a series that caters to 1 manufacturer and how they're performing year after year.

It means that having a baseline 1000c series and then skewing it with a twin that needs it's ranking reviewed is just plain BS.

We can argue all of this until the cows come home.

i dont understand why wsbk has rules made only on ducati 's favour they get 200 cc advantage on a 1000 cc series and if ducati race with the new 1199 panigale next season they are going to be miles ahead..why dont they just name the wsbk competition "The ducati's cup"

Yes, be realistic.

after the ducati 999 all worldtitle's are hollow.
kawasaki always struggled but did the rules favor them?
NO!! could they shave of 6 kilo?? NO. did they win titles? NO.
what makes ducati different from the rest? nothing.

I didn't notice that they changed the name from WBSK to WSBK1000cc.
In Monza Checa is going to be annihilated. He won't even make it top 10.
Other manufactures can also run their V2 with the 200cc "advantage". Aprilia has "stock" bike good enough for MotoGP.But 200cc is like a turbo!
